Beverly Hills Elopement

“The silent-love has more truth than the spoken one”

The day began as all good days do. It began with a cup of coffee from a shop called “Coffee Drunk” in Long Island. It was my first time traveling to Beverly Hills. The list of things I know about Beverly Hills is relatively small. It goes like this:

  • Beverly Hills Chihuahua

  • Oppenheim Group from Selling Sunsets

  • Possible sightings of Kardashians (though none were seen that day)

Arguably not the most informed list.

My task for the day was to assist Madison at a two-hour elopement at Doheny Greystone Estates just a few miles from the famous Beverly Hills sign. We decided that I would only shoot film which I’ve never done exclusively.

We arrived, scouted the best photo locations, and met up with the couple who were surrounded by their closest family members. Maybe 10 in all.

Her dress and shoes especially really felt like old Hollywood. To me, it was the perfect modern yet vintage flair.

As we strolled the Estates together we talked about work, honeymoons, and post-elopement parties. It felt calm. As if the usual bustle of a wedding day had been simplified to one bouquet and a few family members. Which, I guess it had.

I desire that every time my shutter is clicked a new memory is preserved that will bring forth another reason to re-tell a story. The story of this day feels calm. Maybe even quiet in a lot of ways. How sweet to start a marriage in this kind of way.

You can just barely see the city in the back of these. I find that so cool.

Of all the photos from this day, I think these are my favorite. Specifically, her dad signing the marriage license as a witness and holding her flowers. I always seem to be so drawn to photos of family members on wedding days. There is just the most overwhelming sense of emotion in the eyes of a mother, father, grandparent, sibling, or the like that can’t be replicated after the moment of emotion has passed.

Thanks for reading this far. Your time is precious and I’m honored you would give a little bit of it to me.

Until next time,

Lillie Snell
